Fairfax County, VA — Former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger appeared at a Moms Demand Action event in Alexandria alongside Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Kincaid, a self-proclaimed opponent of ICE operations and a longtime supporter of Spanberger’s liberal policies. The event comes on the same day that ICE officials confirmed the arrest of three undocumented immigrants in Fairfax County, including one individual charged with child sex crimes and was previously released under Sheriff Kincaid’s jurisdiction after she refused to honor an ICE detainer.
Sheriff Kincaid terminated Fairfax County’s partnership with ICE in 2018 and has reiterated as recently as this year that her office will not comply with ICE detainer requests, even in cases involving serious violent crimes. Despite this record, Spanberger continues to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with her and refuses to hold her accountable.
“While Abigail Spanberger is smiling for photos with the very sheriff whose policies let criminal illegal immigrants back onto our streets, families in Fairfax stand in danger,” said Press Secretary Peyton Vogel. “The people of Virginia deserve leaders who will put their safety first; not politicians who cozy up to sanctuary sheriffs and turn a blind eye to lawlessness.”
Spanberger’s ongoing support for officials who openly defy federal immigration law raises serious concerns about her priorities and judgment as violent criminals continue to exploit the consequences of these reckless policies.
