Abigail Spanberger, former Virginia Rep. and gubernatorial nominee (D), has made it clear what she thinks about gun control. It’s not good news for gun owners.
The former congresswoman , who was elected in 2010, attended a Moms Demand Action protest at Capitol Square, Richmond, where she called for “gun violence preventive” measures that would “save children’s lives.” The anti-gun lobby uses this rhetoric all the time. Recent polling has shown that the fear-mongering tactics are no longer effective with Americans.
Spanberger’s call for action is not surprising given her background in supporting and sponsors strict measures to control guns, such as red flag laws and so-called AR-15 Bans. She has also expanded background checks. She even voted in favor of the Bipartisan Safety Communities Act, which was backed by Biden. This law opened the way for red flag laws to be implemented under the cover of “mental healthcare” funding.
Spanberger’s agenda was not left to the imagination. she told rally goers, “Now that I am running for governor I will tell you this: As governor of this wonderful commonwealth I will sign bills that will prevent gun violence.
The warning signs were clear: if elected, Spanberger’s administration would impose more gun restrictions in Virginia.
Spanberger already criticized Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s (R) veto of what she called “bipartisan law that would have brought progress” was criticized by Spanberger. Don’t get it twisted, this legislation was not “bipartisan” and aimed at the Second Amendment.
Governor. Youngkin has consistently fought back against anti-gun agendas, vetoing a number of Democrat Bills that threatened to reshape Virginia’s gun laws into California’s. Spanberger had already indicated that she would support a ban on assault weapons.
“I swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of Virginia, and that absolutely includes protecting the right of law-abiding Virginians to keep and bear arms,” said Gov. Youngkin.
The wave on gun control is changing across the country. Many states are rolling back restrictive gun laws, and President Donald Trump continues to keep his promise to fight against gun control at federal level. Virginia gun owners are faced with a difficult situation.
Abigail Spanberger, if elected as Virginia’s governor, could lead a leftist government that has little respect for the Second Amendment. The many gun control bills blocked by Gov. Youngkin’s legislation will be implemented and Virginians will lose their right to bear arms in the future.
We can’t allow the Commonwealth to regress into a failed state like California.
