Loudoun County Public Schools can’t keep out of the news.
Anne Donohue was elected as an at-large school board member in northern Virginia last year, while working for the Justice Department under the Biden-Harris Administration. She received an endorsement by the Democrat Party, which could be a violation of a federal law that prohibits federal employees from being partisan candidates.
Anne Donohue. Loudoun County Public Schools
If this is true, it’s the latest in a long line of problems in Loudoun County.
Hatch Act of 1939 prohibits federal employees from engaging in political activities or running for office as a partisan candidate. The intent is to maintain the impartiality of federal employees and prevent them from using public resources in a partisan manner.
Donohue, who was then a lawyer in the Biden administration, sought and received a Loudoun County Democratic Committee endorsement during her election on Nov. 20, 2023. The Biden Justice Department decided not to pursue charges against Donohue because she agreed to resign her position to comply with the law.
They wouldn’t bring charges against her because she had already got away with the crime.
Blind justice? The partisan Biden Department of Justice didn’t prosecute a member of its own party–Donohue was clearly aligned to the department’s attacks against parents. Donohue promoted a parent’s rights event in which he called them ” extremeists.”
Ronnie Jackson, a Republican from Texas, called her actions a “severe Hatch Act violation,” and demanded that Attorney General Merrick G. Garland fire her. Donohue is a perfect example of liberal privilege, and the weaponization rampant in the [Justice Department],” said Daily Wire.
That’s not the end of it.
Election Law Violations
Anne Donohue, as an attorney, should be held accountable to the highest standard of law. But she’s not. She worked as an Election Officer at Precinct 326, Nov. 2024, from 5:00am to 8:30pm. Documents obtained Restoration News confirm this. Virginia’s Bill of Rights Article II, section 8 forbids elected officials like Donohue to serve as election officers. Virginia code 24.2- 1017 appears to indicate that this violation is a class one misdemeanor punishable up to a year in prison.
Donohue, an attorney at the George Washington University Law School and a Professor, shouldn’t have been surprised.
Judith Brown , the Loudoun County Election Registrar, sent Donohue an email a few days after the Nov. 12 election to inform her that she could no longer serve as a poll worker. Brown removed Donohue from the database of election officers, but there are no indications that she has been charged criminally.
Why can’t Donohue, who appears to have consistently disregarded the law, be trusted? Why hasn’t Donohue been prosecuted?
Donohue did not respond to Restoration News’ inquiry. Restoration News asked Loudoun Commonwealth Attorney if the issue fell under their jurisdiction, and if it did, if they would investigate. Their office is reviewing our request.
Loudoun County’s residents must demand that Donohue step down from the school board because she disregarded her oath to support the Constitution of the Commonwealth. Elected officials shouldn’t be given a special privilege of not being held accountable when they violate the law.
