LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA, October 14, 2024–Mike Clancy, the Republican nominee for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, is calling on the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters and Loudoun Career Fire Fighters Association to retract their endorsements of State Senator Suhas Subramanyam, following shocking revelations that Subramanyam was recommended for termination as a volunteer firefighter in 2019 due to severe performance deficiencies and insubordination according to the Leesburg Patch article ([October 9, 2024: “Suhas Subramanyam Was Recommended for Termination as Firefighter”]).
Contrary to the image Subramanyam touts in his campaign materials, his service as a volunteer firefighter with the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department was marred by major failures. According to the Patch, Suhas was removed from firefighter duties five years ago in 2019 due to serious attitude and performance issues, including “disregarding job duties,” “loafing,” “neglect of work,” insubordination,” “carelessness,” and lacking “the drive or desire to fix his attitude and mistakes.” Worse, it was determined that Subramanyam was a “danger to himself and others,” and “not an asset to th[e] department.”
“The Patch article is quite damning,” said Mike Clancy. “What should shock every voter is just how deceptive Suhas has been over the past five years about his brief and troubled tenure with the fire department, intentionally misleading our entire community by falsely branding himself as something he was not.”
Clancy continued, “And the fact that his lies resulted in endorsements from the Loudoun’s Career Fire Fighters and Virginia Professional Fire Fighters makes his behavior even more egregious, and dishonors the first responders who serve with dedication and self-sacrifice. Given the recent revelations, those endorsements should be retracted.”
“Moreover,” Clancy added, “the people of the 10th District deserve a representative who is honest about their background, accountable for their actions, and committed to serving the community. A fair and reasonable look at Subramanyam’s behavior, as detailed in the Patch article, shows that he lacks the integrity and character to serve.”
“Public service is about transparency, trust, and genuine commitment to the people,” Clancy concluded. “Our district needs leaders who show up and follow through—not those who hide behind fabricated resumes.” Accordingly, Virginia Professional Fire Fighters and Loudoun Career Fire Fighters Association should retract their endorsements of State Senator Subramanyam.
