Abigail Spanberger may claim to be concerned about women’s issues, but if Virginia voters elect her as governor this November, her policies could prove dangerous – and even deadly – for both women and infants.
The former congresswoman, a Democrat who carries a Democratic card, has been proud of her support for reproductive freedom. To understand what she really means, you have to dig deeper.
Let’s dig.
Spanberger believes that babies born following failed abortions do not deserve the same level of care as any other premature baby. In 2023, she proved it when she voted in opposition to the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
These are babies that have already been delivered and are not attached to their mother. It is not legal to deny them the same rights as every other U.S. Citizen.
Spanberger appears to disagree. She would rather let these breathing human babies die on a cold table than ensure they have access to lifesaving treatment.
She supports infanticide.
Virginia Gov on abortion this morning
If a mother was in labor, the infant would be delivered. The infant will be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians & mother” pic.twitter.com/cc15pVLjIQ

Her cold indifference reminds us of another Virginia Democrat who was in the governor’s office and believed that babies born following failed abortions were to be “kept comfy” while their mothers decided if they would live or die.
Ralph Abortham, was that his name again?
Endangering Women
Spanberger also supports mifepristone as an abortion drug, echoing that the abortion lobby claims it to be “safe”. “New research proves it’s anything but.
Insurance claims and data obtained from the Foundation for the Restoration of America reveal that over one in ten women (11.9%) who undergo a chemical abort will suffer a serious adverse event. These side effects can include serious conditions such as sepsis or hemorrhage. They may also cause uterine rupture or ruptured ectopic pregnancies.

This is a risky game, especially in Virginia. According to the Guttmacher Institute, the Old Dominion State had the highest increase in abortions in 2024 of all states, with a spike of 16 percent from year to year.
According to , a pro-abortion group, 38.920 abortions were performed in Virginia in the past year. If 66 percent were drug-induced, as was the case in 2020, then approximately 2,800 women would likely experience serious complications due to abortion pills in Virginia by 2024.
Does Spanberger Care?
She joined an “amicus” brief in 2023 to urge the U.S. Supreme Court, citing growing concerns about the safety of mifepristone, to lift the restrictions.
The Food and Drug Administration had previously required that mifepristone be dispensed in person. This regulation was lifted during the COVID-19 epidemic and the change became permanent in 2023. Patients can now obtain mifepristone without having to visit a doctor.
How many women ended up in an emergency room after they missed that crucial doctor’s appointment to rule out ectopic pregnancies?
We’ll probably never know because of the lack of reporting on abortion in this country.
This is Spanberger’s “reproductive liberty” for you.
