The President has indicated his support for a bill that would target nonprofit organizations who are involved in organizing riots, by stripping them of their tax-exempt status. This would make these groups ineligible to receive federal funding.
Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-CA, introduced the “No Tax Dollars for Riots Act” and explained that the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights Coalition (CHIRLA), a nonprofit organization which played a key role in organizing violent riots in Los Angeles against Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents (ICE), received some $34 million from state funding and others from federal funding.
Kiley claims that CHIRLA gave $50000 to help elect Gavin Newsom as Governor.
I am introducing legislation that will cut off funding to “nonprofits”, which organize riots, and revoke their tax-exempt status.

Kiley stated that CHIRLA operates as a government-owned subsidiary, and its actions demonstrate why taxpayer funds should not be used to create situations like those seen in Los Angeles recently.
CHIRLA has been accused of tracking ICE officers and sharing their location in real time with rioters to enable them to more efficiently attack and obstruct federal enforcement agents.
In a Truth Social post, President Trump said:
The ‘No Tax Dollars for Riots” legislation by Congressman Kevin Kiley should be passed as soon as possible. I instruct my Administration to not pay any money to radicalized groups regardless of legislation. They are paid to incite violence, destroy cities, or burn them down, and then they come back to the trough for money to rebuild those cities. No more money! !
Riley also expressed his gratitude to Trump for approving the bill. He said, “We’ve learned that taxpayer dollars were used to fuel the horrendous violence in Los Angeles.” This is unacceptable. “I am thankful to President Trump for approving my bill, No Tax Dollars for Riots Act to ensure this does not happen again.”
The House Judiciary Committee of which Rep. Kiley was a member has opened an investigation on CHIRLA’s use of funds for criminal activity.
