Kamala Harris snubs her Indian identity appearing to only use it when it’s politically convenient to do so. In reality, race doesn’t matter. It’s a candidate’s position on policy and effectiveness as a leader that should be the measure by which votes are earned. But Harris’ conscious downplaying of her Indian identity in an effort to secure the votes of the black population is a reflection on her character. Harris does what she believes is politically expedient.
Harris’ disdain for her Indian heritage aligns with her values of identity politics and preference for DEI over entrepreneurship and meritocracy.
The American Dream emphasizes hard work and equal opportunity. Harris believes in equal outcome and affirmative action. In her mind, the government should get to decide who to take from, and who to give to, based on skin color, gender, identify, or any of a number of other traits.
Feeling ignored by Harris, Indian-American business owners and parents are turning to Republicans who more closely represent their values of excellence, hard work, meritocracy, and security.
