All who are concerned with political indoctrination within Fairfax County Public Schools should read a recent article written by Stephanie Lundquist Arora. See ‘A is for Abortion’: Public high school teaches ABCs to celebrate Women’s History Month.
This article documents an example of leftist propaganda that was displayed in the halls of West Springfield High School. A series of posters prepared in a sophomoric manner, purportedly to celebrate Women’s History Month lists the “ABCs of women’s interest, beginning with “A Is for Abortion,” (with an image of Kamala), then “F Is for Feminism,” (with images of the Statue of Liberty and photos of the transgender flag, and the Palestinian flag), followed by “L Is for Liberty,” (with images of Michelle Obama, Alexandria Ocasio Cort The ABC display may have been designed to emphasize Patriarchy, Persecution and the preservation of private spaces for girls.
FCPS has a controversial issues policy that demands objectivity, neutrality and balance, but is often ignored. See Reg. 3280.4. The regulation states that, “whenever there are doubts about the controversial nature or any topic, teachers, student groups, or other school personnel should consult the principal” who will then determine if the material is in compliance with FCPS policies. West Springfield’s Principal determined that the ABC display was objective, balanced and political neutral?
Imagine what might happen if conservative students made a presentation opposing open borders, criticizing the Black Lives Matter group, opposing biological males in women’s locker rooms, advocating equal opportunity instead of “equity,” praising Donald Trump as an advocate of justice for everyone. Would this be allowed in the halls of Fairfax County Public Schools? It’s obvious. Left-wing groups (teachers unions, advocates of “sanctuary”, transgender lobbyists and civic organizations such as 4PublicEducation), would be furious and outraged, and the display will be taken down within 24 hour.
Fairfax County Public Schools administrators and the School Board like to pretend the ABCs is the main focus of education, but displays such as “A Is for Abortion”, show that political ideologies permeate the school system.
Parents of West Springfield students who are concerned should express their concerns via phone calls, email, and by requesting meetings with school officials, the Superintendent’s Office, the Ombudsman’s Office, and other FCPS representatives. It is doubtful if anything will be done to address the ABC display, but FCPS employees responsible should be forced to speak on record.
