Yesterday Governor Youngkin, and Virginia scored an important victory for election integrity. The Supreme Court granted their request (6-3) for an emergency stay from a lower court ruling that blocked the removal of non-citizens.

Governor Youngkin, and Attorney-General Miyares hailed Supreme Court’s ruling as a victory of “commonsense” and rule of law in their efforts to protect the right of eligible Virginians to vote.

Katie Gorka is the Chair of the Fairfax County Republican Committee. She issued a Statement at the time the suit was brought against Virginia and said this about yesterday’s important ruling:

She said, “We are grateful that the U.S. Supreme Court recognized the rule of law as well as the integrity of our election.” By allowing Virginia to remove non-citizens from its registration rolls, Commonwealth citizens can rest assured that their votes count. Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s efforts to contest the Department of Justice’s lawsuit are critical in righting past wrongs that allowed non-citizens cast illegal ballots during our elections .”

Gerry Connolly, 11th district representative (D), issued a Statement condemning the stay and tried to misrepresent this issue by omitting the crucial term “noncitizen”. Noncitizens have no right to vote.

Election Day is on Tuesday, November 5, and Saturday, 11/2 is the LAST day of early voting.
