The U.S. Department of Education asked the National Collegiate Athletic Association to “correct” the records of all female athletes who had their titles and awards stolen by men competing against them under the pretense of being women.
The letter was sent on Tuesday to Bob Lombardi and Charlie Baker, the former Republican Governor of Massachusetts who are the NCAA President, as well as to the NCAA , which had already decided that males would no longer be allowed to compete with females.
Candice Jackson , Deputy General Counsel of the Education Department, wrote that “because of President Trump’s courageous leadership, men won’t be allowed to participate in women’s sport regardless of their identity, and the NCAA is now correct in its treatment of female athletes.” The next step is to return athletic records to women, who for years have been ignored, devalued and forced to watch as men stole their accolades. The Trump Education Department is committed to redressing this injustice and promoting the achievements of female college athletes past, present, and in the future.
If the NCAA or NFHS comply with the ruling, people such as Lia Thomas who stole the 500-yard freestyle national championship from women he competed against in 2022, will have their titles revoked.
The request is in accordance with President Donald Trump’s Executive Order, ” Keeping men out of women’s sports,” which states that both organizations should develop policies in accordance with “clear and fact-based language” found in Trump’s order ” Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extinction and Restoring Biological Reality to the Federal Government“. The letter states that the order on “Women’s Sports”, which was issued by President Donald Trump, is intended to prevent serious injuries for female athletes caused by larger and stronger male competitors.
The NCAA, which writes the rules for high school sports, owes it to the millions of students to fulfill their mission by “providing leadership… through the writing of playing rules that emphasize health and safety.” This mission is compromised and will continue to be until the NCAA commits fully to fairness–in the past, present and future. The NFHS also owes it to millions of students in high school to “provide leadership… by writing playing rules that emphasize safety and health.”

By returning to objective and factual sex categories in athletics, we cannot undo years of policies and practice that denied the materiality of sex, and confused that immutable characteristic, with a fluid, subjective concept of “identity”. We can acknowledge the injustices and harms caused by these misguided policies, and reverse their effects to restore equality for women and girls in athletic competitions across the United States.
In order to protect women’s sport and women and girls in schools in general, the Trump administration reversed Biden’s attempt at defining “sex” in Title IX to include a broad range of gender identities.
This policy reversal was made after a U.S. District Court blocked nationwide the Biden Rules just before Trump took office.
