Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) introduced legislation Wednesday to ban federally mutilating procedures that transgender children undergo and to punish those who perform them.
The law would prohibit doctors from prescribing or administering cross-sex and puberty hormones as well as performing mutilating surgeries on transgender people, such as mastectomies.
The Safeguarding Overall Protection of Minors Act allows the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to impose a $100,000 minimum fine on doctors that do not comply with the law. The bill would allow victims or their guardians, if they are minors, to bring a lawsuit against “individuals who performed, attempted to perform or conspired to perform any gender-transition procedure on the minor.”
“Americans have resoundingly rejected transgender’s dangerous agenda. Marshall stated in the release that “let’s call this what it is, child abuse.” The days of mutilating and sterilizing children to make money are over.
He added that “our legislation puts the safety of children first by prohibiting anyone to perform, facilitate, or even conspire to give these irreversible treatments and procedures to minors.” This bill is only the beginning, with President Trump in charge and our unwavering dedication to protecting children against the criminal agenda of transgender activists.
Marshall, an OB/GYN who has worked for more than two decades, is laying the Republican agenda on transgender issues. Marshall also introduced a previous bill to define “male” & “female”, in accordance with biological reality, instead of allowing Democrats warp categories as the Biden administration did in Title IX by redefining gender.
According to the press release issued on Wednesday, the STOP Act “is a major pillar in Senator Marshall’s fight against transgender industrial complexity that preys on America’s kids.”
According to American Principles Project Terry Schilling, the transgender medical sector is worth $4.5 billion and aims to “transition” all 1.3 millions Americans who identify themselves as trans.
He said, “They also want to increase that 1.3 number.” “That is what the trans ideology in school is all about… They have literally weaponized our taxes in our schools to brainwash and get our kids into this lucrative pipeline.”
Marshall told Newsmax that the STOP Act would be a ” uphill struggle” to get it passed. The bill will need 60 votes from the Senate. The Republicans will only have 53 seats at the next Congress.
Marshall’s bill comes after Tennessee defended a state-level legislation similar to Marshall’s in the U.S. Supreme Court Wednesday.
In oral arguments, Justice Samuel Alito debunked the claim that “gender-affirming treatment,” including hormones and puberty blocks, “improves physical and psychological well-being of transgender teens with gender dysphoria.” Alito also cited extensive studies stating that such medical interventions “are likely to outweigh any benefits.”
