Governor Glenn Youngkin announced the Virginia Lottery ended the 2025 fiscal year (FY25) with its second-highest profit total in the Lottery’s 37-year history. Profits generated by Virginia Lottery games for the year totaled more than $901 million. Under Virginia law, all Lottery profits go to support K-12 public education in the Commonwealth.

President Trump signed a directive on April 23 directing public school districts to develop policies for student discipline that do not take race or ethnicity into consideration. According to the order, "The Federal Government won't tolerate risks that are known to exist for children's safety or well-being when school discipline is based on a discriminatory and illegal 'equity ideology'."

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin today signed 185 pieces of legislation, including HB 1910 and SB 1289 carried by Delegate Hillary Pugh Kent and Senator Emily Jordan prohibiting public elementary and secondary schools from serving any food that contains specific color additives for school meals or competitive food.
