As the nation is moving to a more unifying political discourse, one Virginia democrat has ratcheted up her negative rhetoric. Juli Briskman, democrat and Vice Chair of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, took to Twitter (https://twitter.com/julibriskman) in the hours following an attempt on former President Trump’s life. Her tweets and retweets in the day following the shooting include:
- Inferring that Republican women posing with guns motivated the madman shooter
- Blaming Trump himself as “this country’s biggest cheerleader for political violence”
- Trying to score political points by saying “It’s the f*cking guns”.
- Calling Americans caught up in an FBI entrapment “right-wing scum”
- Saying “gun violence is indiscriminate”.
The assassination attempt on former President Trump was clearly not an indiscriminate attack, as Juli Briskman oddly claims. Briskman has made an entire career out of dialing up hateful, and apparently dangerous, rhetoric and directing it at republicans, especially Donald Trump.
Briskman’s political career started on the basis of hate, giving President Trump a vulgar gesture on a public road. After being elected to the county board, Briskman spends most of her time on Twitter, spreading the Russian hoax disinformation, and calling Trump “hitler” more than 10 times.
As Virginia and the rest of the country moves to a more unifying message in 2024, someone should ask Juli Briskman to get on message.
