Abigail Spanberger, a Socialist who aligns herself with Radicals Anti-Israel

The Anti-Israel and Anti-Parent Ticket

On June 18, 2025 Spanberger bragged about her alliance with the Democrat statewide Ticket–Ghazala Hahmi, and Jay Jones. They claimed they were united on issues and that they were “one united Democratic team.”

Virginians should be concerned about an alliance with Hashmi. She is one the most radical legislators in the state.

Hashmi voted against a 2022 bill that required schools to notify parents of sexually explicit instructional content. She also voted in opposition to of a bill for 2022 that would have required schools notify parents before sexually explicit material was used in class.

Hashmi sponsored legislation for 2025 that would protect doctors who perform transgender surgery and illegal abortions on minors against extradition. The bill was killed by the finance committee.

Hashmi is Spanberger’s teammate and a pro-Palestinian activist.

Hashmi took part in a anti Israel and anti US Navy protest at Richmond in 2021. Protesters called for Palestinian freedom and demanded Virginia to cut ties with Israel. Hashmi in 2024 defended anti Israel protestors at Virginia Commonwealth University who had set up pro Palestinian encampments. Hashmi said it was his “responsibility to help [students] peacefully protest.”

Hashmi , during the 2025 Virginia legislature session, opposed a bill which would have prohibited public university from accepting grants and forming partnerships with states like Cuba or Iran that sponsor terrorism.

Spanberger’s alliance with Hashmi, one of Virginia’s most radical politicians, is alarming. She has shown her solidarity with Hashmi on many issues and welcomed her to the “united Democratic party”. Despite her efforts to portray herself as a moderate, Spanberger’s alliance with Hashmi has revealed her true colors.

Abigail is a Socialist, not a Moderate

Spanberger’s website is more like that of New York Socialist candidate Zohran Mahdani than it is the moderate she claims.

Spanberger’s plan will bankrupt taxpayers and increase reliance upon government.

Housing Funded by Taxpayers

Spanberger has a socialist platform that advocates for government-funded housing. She wants to “increase the funding for the Virginia Housing Trust Fund in order to increase the availability of affordable housing”.

Zohran Mamdani, a socialist from New York City, has a plan that would make New York’s taxpayers pay for the so-called affordable housing. Anyone who believes in the free market will be repelled by government control of the housing markets.

Taxpayer-funded Childcare

Spanberger also stresses the importance of taxpayers funding childcare. She wants to charge you for childcare for others’ children, whether you have kids or not. She wants government increase the number child care centers through repurposing commercial space. She means taxpayer when she uses the word government. She wants to separate children from their parents even earlier, after spending 13 years in government schools.

Spanberger’s plan is aligned with Mamdani’s socialist platform, which also proposes that the state provide childcare. Parents who choose to have their child’s primary caregiver stay at home rather than work will now be required to pay for childcare costs of others.

Spanberger Will not Eliminate Car Tax

Virginia’s car taxes are a major issue that voters from both sides of the political spectrum support. Spanberger has said that she supports efforts in order to eliminate the tax. However, she’s not provided any specifics on how she plans to do so. In reality, the priorities that she has set forth in her campaign would raise taxes on Virginians.

Spanberger’s socialist agenda for housing and childcare will come at a price that taxpayers will pay. She will not be able eliminate the car tax, as that would require spending cuts.

Abigail Spanberger’s alliances and her candidate platform have shown that she is not a moderate. Voters should reject Mamdani’s style politics, as her socialism would bankrupt Virginia.
