Arlington Ends Flock Contract After Residents Force Transparency Fight
Arlington’s County Board directed an end to county-leased Flock gear Sept. 15 after resident pressure over a program that never got a formal public debate when it launched.
Removal covers 26 Falcon plate readers and 15 Condor cameras on public property, with a 14-business-day request window and a Sept. 22 update. Chair Matt de Ferranti cited trust even while saying no misuse had been reported under existing safeguards.
ARLnow previously reported the cameras arrived through an administrative path after 2023 budget set-asides, becoming a 2026 campaign flashpoint as both parties nationalize ALPR fights.
Private-property Flock units remain untouched — a loophole watchdogs say undercuts any claim of a clean break.
