Alexandria and Fairfax Join Growing List of Dominion Merger Intervenors

Fairfax County's Board of Supervisors and the City of Alexandria have filed notices of participation in the State Corporation Commission review of the Dominion-NextEra merger, joining Gov. Abigail Spanberger and a lengthening roster of intervenors, Virginia Business reported.

Other recent participants include Old Dominion Electric Cooperative, the Corporate Energy Buyers Association, Google and Walmart. Walmart said it operates 116 Virginia stores and Sam's Club locations and buys more than 336.1 million kilowatt-hours a year from Dominion Energy Virginia.

Formal intervention allows parties to submit evidence, cross-examine witnesses and appeal, going beyond ordinary public comment. The expanding list signals how broadly Virginia localities and major customers expect the combination to affect rates, reliability and economic development.
